BIO

Suffer Through Silence is a metal duo carving out the space to breathe some new life into progressive metal. Keep it artsy, keep it heavy, and keep it real is the goal. Both members grapple for a lead vocalist spot in an attempt to highlight the fidelity of music through intricate vocal duets and layers. Instrumentals and lyrical beats are crafted to captivate, to evoke history from around the world, from Norse mythology’s Ragnarök to the Catholic witch hunts of the dark ages. With a broad range of musical tastes, the artist goal is to put the music first, make metal accessible, and embrace perpetual growth (individually and artistically).

Conover Smith – Founder/Periphery nerd.

Conover attributes his musical development to being a drummer first. Performing in Jazz bands, drumlines, and concert style percussion before sprinkling some keyboard and vocal endeavors over the top. His musical tastes evolved around rhythm, taking his tastes to wherever the bass drum hits hardest; EDM and metal. “It has to groove. From heavy to elegant, no pocket means no headbang”.  He’s a self-taught screamer and mix engineer who handles the artist process from conception to completion. Conover is currently a marketing major at Utah State University and intern for Optimize marketing, striving to perfect his mixing craft enough to sell his services as a producer and mix engineer.

TJ – Teej/Resident punk

TJ’s music venture all started in high school with punk. She front lined her own local band as a vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter, running with old and new punk inspiration from Black Flag and Misfits to My Chemical Romance. The metal side came after graduation with an ever-evolving love for the heavier side of music. “The only thing that feeds my corrupt soul are guitar scrapes, chugs, and vocal fries; and I will spend the rest of my life hunting them down to perfect the craft and secure my spot in hell”. TJ also personally handles the album art, the merchandise, and is currently a full-time visual art student at Kubert in New Jersey.

From Conover & TJ:

With humility, thank you for reading. We would be fractions of the people we are without the music and our hope is that one day our skills and efforts will be developed enough for the experience to stand and shine on its own. We love everyone in this community, thank you for being you, stay heavy people.
